Most “paycheck calculators” present a single confident number and stop there. Ours doesn’t, on purpose.
Our paycheck tax calculator breaks your estimated take-home pay into its parts — federal tax, FICA, and a state rate you set — so you can see where the money actually goes:
- Transparent — federal tax, Social Security, Medicare, and state tax are shown as separate line items, not folded into one mystery deduction.
- Honest about its limits — this is a simplified estimate built on 2024 figures, not a payroll system. Your real W-4 elections, local taxes, and benefit deductions will change your actual number, and we say so directly on the page.
- Shareable — your inputs live in the link, so you can compare two pay frequencies or filing statuses side by side.
- Private — the math runs in your browser. We never see your numbers.
If you’re deciding between a raise structured as a higher salary or extra benefits, or just want to understand why your take-home pay is what it is, this tool shows the shape of the calculation instead of hiding it. It’s also embeddable if you write about personal finance.
