New: a debt payoff calculator that tells you the truth

· CalcHub

The scariest thing about credit card debt isn’t the balance — it’s not knowing when it ends. Our new debt payoff calculator answers that in three inputs: balance, APR, and what you can pay each month.

Instead of a rough formula, it simulates your payoff month by month — adding interest, subtracting your payment, repeating until the balance hits zero. That gives you an exact month count, the total you’ll pay, and the interest hiding inside it. On a $6,000 balance at 22% APR, a $200 monthly payment takes 3 years 8 months and costs $2,790.68 in interest; $50 more a month erases a full year and about $800 of that.

It’s honest about the bad case too: if your payment can’t outrun the monthly interest, it says so plainly and shows the minimum that would actually make progress — no false hope, no infinite timelines.

As with all our tools, results update as you type, your inputs live in the link so you can share a scenario, and the math runs entirely in your browser. Writers and counselors can also embed the calculator with one iframe.
